Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo has become the second player to enter the club of 100 in the list of best international goal scorers, and intends to break the record held by Iranian Ali Daei.
The best player in the world scored five wonderful double times on Tuesday during the defending champions’ victory over Sweden (2-0), in the second round of the first-level competitions in the European Football League.
Ronaldo raised his goal-scoring goal to 101 goals in 165 matches, to enter the closed club and stand eight goals from the equation of Daei (109).
Ronaldo said, “I am very happy with this victory, which allowed us to continue on this path, and of course my scoring goals 100 and 101 makes me very happy.”
“I managed to achieve this achievement by reaching 100 goals and now I will strive for the record. I go step by step, I am not obsessed because I believe that records come naturally.”
The Italian Juventus striker scored his first goal from a direct free kick from 25 meters (45), and the second after a pass from Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix, who converted it with a powerful shot with his right foot into the goal (72).
In comparison with the world scorers who preceded him, Hungarian Ferenc Puskas scored 84 goals, Brazilian Pele 77, Argentine Lionel Messi 70, Brazilian Ronaldo 62 and Argentine Diego Maradona 34.
Daei, 51, is considered one of the most prominent players in Iran’s history. To his international goals, he lived a prosperous career that led him to Bayern Munich, Germany, with him winning the league title in 1999. In the same year, he was also named the best player in Asia.
After moving to training, he won the Best Coach Award in Iran in 2006 with Saipa Club.
